He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Born on 23 September 1926 and raised in North Carolina, after graduating from high school Coltrane moved to Philadelphia, where he studied music. The painting was inspired by his album, “Traneing In”, with the Red Garland Trio, as the third studio album that was released in early 1958
